Overview

The Peace Economy Project, a non-profit organization focused on advocating for peace, economic justice, and the reallocation of military spending to social and environmental needs, is seeking a creative and dynamic Social Media Volunteer. This volunteer will play a crucial role in enhancing our online presence, engaging our audience, and spreading the word about our mission and activities through various social media platforms.

Responsibilities

  • Content Creation: Craft compelling and informative content for our social media platforms (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, LinkedIn) that aligns with our mission and current campaigns. This includes creating posts, graphics, and short videos.
  • Strategy Execution: Implement and contribute to our social media strategy, ensuring consistent and effective engagement with our audience.
  • Engagement: Monitor and respond to comments and messages on our social media platforms. Foster a positive and interactive online community.
  • Analytics Monitoring: Track and report on the performance of social media activities. Use insights to suggest and implement adjustments to the social media strategy.
  • Campaign Support: Collaborate with the team to promote specific advocacy campaigns, events, and fundraising efforts through social media.
  • Trend Monitoring: Stay up-to-date with current trends in social media and nonprofit marketing to ensure our social media activities are relevant and engaging.

Qualifications

  • Strong understanding and passion for the Peace Economy Project's mission.
  • Excellent writing and communication skills, with the ability to create engaging and clear content.
  • Experience managing social media accounts, particularly for nonprofits or advocacy groups, is preferred.
  • Creativity and proficiency in creating visual content (graphics, videos) are highly desirable.
  • Familiarity with social media analytics tools and the ability to use data to inform decisions.
  • Self-motivated, organized, and able to manage time effectively.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with a team, even in a remote environment.

Time Commitment

This volunteer position requires a commitment of approximately 5-10 hours per week. The role offers flexible hours, but timely responses and regular updates are essential for social media management.

Location

This is a remote volunteer opportunity, and candidates can be based anywhere with reliable internet access.
