We are seeking an experienced Senior Scientific Grant Writer (contractor) with a PhD and expertise in drug discovery and development, particularly in antibody and RNA-based therapies. The ideal candidate will have deep knowledge of cutting-edge technologies in drug discovery, precision medicine, and translational research.

The candidate should have a primary scientific focus/training in Immunology & Inflammation (I&I), Oncology, or Ophthalmology, while also possessing a broad understanding of the entire drug discovery and development pathway, including target identification, hit-to-lead optimization, preclinical testing, clinical trials (Phases I-III), regulatory submissions, and commercialization .

The role involves strategizing grant submissions based on a prospective drug's developmental stage aligned with the latest biopharma trends as well as working with scientific experts to craft competitive grant applications proposals. Work will be conducted remotely in a fast-paced, innovative environment with occasional travel for client interaction.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with scientists to develop an extensive in-house grant submission strategy based on company's drug discovery portfolio.
• Identify funding opportunities and timelines from NIH, private foundations, BARDA and other agencies as appropriate.
• Develop and write grant proposals, especially for therapies in I&I, Oncology, or Ophthalmology.
• Review and edit proposals for clarity, scientific rigor, and adherence to guidelines.
• Manage deadlines and ensure timely submission of grant applications.
• Occasional travel to meet clients.

Qualifications

• PhD in a relevant field (e.g., Biomedical Sciences, Pharmacology, Chemistry)
• 5+ years of experience in pharma/drug discovery/development/clinical trials
• 5+ years of experience crafting, writing and submitting scientific grants
• Proven laboratory experience in any phase of drug discover for I&I, Oncology, or Ophthalmology
• Strong understanding of each stage of the drug development process: target ID, lead optimization, preclinical, clinical trials, regulatory submissions, and commercialization
• Strong understanding of the NIH grant submission programs and submission processes
• Experience creating grant funding strategies
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects remotely
• Experience with SBIR/STTR grant applications
• Strong publication record in drug discovery-related fields
• Practical experience in some aspects of commercial pharmaceutical operations ranging from drug discovery through clinical trials.
