Description Summary The Regulatory and Compliance Specialist must have solid knowledge of food regulation with emphasis on labeling, ingredient composition and claim substantiation. Responsible for all administrative tasks involving quality assurance and compliance with applicable FDA and USDA regulatory requirements.
Essential Duties & Job Responsibilities: - Pre-approval review of ingredient documents for accuracy and compliance with applicable regulations and customer requirements, including but not limited to Standard of Identity, food additive/GRAS status, flavoring components, allergens, GMO status.
- Be able to understand and prepare the Company Product List (Ingredient Statement, Allergen Statement, Nutritional Facts Panel) and review labeling and labels for compliance with regulatory requirements.
- Schedule, request and maintain database of all existing and potential supplier approval documentation (Raw Material ingredients and Packaging) for review and approval by the Regulatory and Compliance Manager.
- Documents various work according to established procedures and guidelines provides timely and effective oral and written communication and prepares reports to the project team to ensure complete communication of project status, progress, issues, solutions, timeline, and accountability.
- Input and maintenance of validated regulatory information to support commercialization of compliant products.
- Technical understanding and interpretation of regulatory documentation and data.

- Develop and maintain Technical Manual specifications for all raw materials and finished goods.
- Coordinating, reviewing, and editing regulatory documents to ensure that products are legally compliant.
- Ensuring that the internal regulatory department database for new products is kept updated with back-up information for all formulations to ensure that all necessary paperwork is available for labeling, and registration.
- Maintain product and facility records in customer portals. Enter new items and update existing items, as needed.
- Complete technical document requests to meet customer expectations in documentation turnaround time and accuracy.
- Assist with technical documentation in support of compliance audits, such as SQF, FDA, Organic, and Customer Audits.
- Categorize, file and retrieve documents using specific classification and in-house organization system.
- Record and keep physical and electronic documents, including distribution of new documents and discarding obsolete records.
- Maintain records and logs of document retrievals, updates, distributions, and removal.
- Other duties assigned by the Regulatory and Compliance Manager.
Qualifications Minimum Qualification Requirements - BA/BS in Food Science or Nutrition; 2-4 years of relevant regulatory/compliance experience (including labeling, formulation, ingredient compliance, registration).
- Proven record of understanding regulations, ingredient/formula compliance, manufacturing, and supply chain.
- Experience in ERP system (Microsoft NAVISION) or similar product management system is a plus.
- Computer proficiency and knowledge of office equipment (Word, Excel, Outlook).
- High attention to detail and accuracy.
- Able to follow written or verbal instructions.
- Demonstrate good communication skills (verbal and written; English required).
- Demonstrate full knowledge of Good Manufacturing Practices policies and procedures.
- Creation of US/International nutritional labels using Genesis software. (Preferred)
Food Safety and Culture Expectations - Adheres to all Food Safety/Quality SOPs
- Communicates and assists in resolving any known or suspected Food Safety/Quality issues to management.
- Attends Food Safety/Quality training sessions as required.
Physical Demands/work environment: Ability to work in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. Ability to lift and/or move up to 20 pounds, work in varying production environments (hot or cold), stand and walk for long periods of time and withstand strong odors from the foods being processed.
