Ohio CDC Association - Leader

Ohio CDC Association (OCDCA) is a statewide membership organization that fosters vibrant neighborhoods and improves the quality of life in all communities through advocacy and capacity building of our member agencies. OCDCA provides technical assistance training open to all members in the areas of fundraising, grant writing, volunteer management, and more. Our project will concentrate on goals that build the capacity of CDCs in the following ways: (1) to provide affordable housing, (2) to increase employment opportunities, (3) to provide housing counseling, (4) to increase and maintain assets for individuals, (5) to increase access to fresh and healthy foods, and (6) to increase energy and water efficiency in housing. OCDCA's VISTA Leader will work with VISTA members placed at community development organizations throughout Ohio to make lasting changes through capacity building. The VISTA Leader fosters communication among VISTA Members and serves as a role model, trainer, and resource provider for these VISTA Members. In addition to OCDCA VISTA Project support, the VISTA Leader will work with OCDCA staff on a selection of special projects, ranging from affordable housing access through our Micro IDA program, fundraising exposure, and story telling through mapping data and ARC GIS programming. Member Duties : OCDCA is looking for a VISTA Leader who is highly organized, an apt communicator, and is passionate about furthering the VISTA program in Ohio. You will: catalog and assess previous years of OCDCA VISTA Program participants to assess recruitment and retention trends; create a recruitment plan and toolkit that addresses gaps in site recruitment that will ensure OCDCA sites recruit strong candidates; create a recruitment database of contacts, organizations and other VISTA intermediaries; develop training for staff and VISTA members; develop resources to support VISTA members throughout their service year; create a pilot program to support smaller member organizations' success in applying for funding resources. Prior knowledge or experience in the community development field is preferred. Skills desired: strong communication, people-oriented, creative thinker, and familiarity with Microsoft suite. One year of national service or Peace Corps experience required
