About the Role: The Director, Translational Medicine will lead translational lab scientists to develop and implement translational research plans to advance our targeted Oncology programs in discovery and in the clinic. They will be responsible for investigating assigned validations, patient stratification biomarkers, drug response biomarkers and mechanism of action in partnership with our Discovery Biology, Translational Bioinformatics and Clinical teams. As a senior member of the Translational R&D team reporting to the Vice President of Biology, the candidate will help foster a culture of scientific excellence, rigorous innovation, and teamwork.
Location Classification - Lab-Based: This role will be required to work on site 5 days a week as the majority of the work will be conducted in our laboratory facility. #LI-Onsite
Key Responsibilities: - Develop translational research strategy, set priorities, and implement it for targeted Oncology programs in discovery and in the clinic.
- Contribute to the implementation and execution of strategies for indication selection, potential patient stratification, and for identification of markers of early biological activity for preclinical programs to support IND packages.
- Lead assigned Translational Research sub-teams to develop translational datasets for driving recommendations on dose level and schedule for early phase clinical trials.
- Partner with the Translational Bioinformatics and Clinical teams to develop biomarker testing strategies, collaborate on biomarker identification, and advance mechanistic understanding of drug response and resistance for clinical programs.
- Effectively identify and manage external collaborations (KOLs in the field and CROs).
- Build and lead a team to execute on assigned strategic focus areas.
- Author and review translational research sections in regulatory documents and scientific publications.
- Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned
Qualifications: - Education: PhD or MD in Cell Biology, Cancer Biology or related life-sciences field.
- 9+ years of industry experience in pharmaceutical, biotechnology or research organization with direct experience in leading translational research studies in Oncology R&D; with small molecule experience preferred.
- 3+ years people leadership experience
- Experience working with external venders and CROs
- Experience collaborating with Drug Discovery and Bioinformatics teams in developing and implementing IND enabling studies and supporting biomarker plans for clinical programs.
- Demonstrated track record of productivity and scientific innovation via publications, patents, and presentations at conferences.
- Knowledge and experience in standard techniques for biology Mechanism of Action (MoA) studies and biomarker assessments (a plus).
- Extensive hands-on experience with standard techniques including multi-parameter flow cytometry, cell sorting, ELISAs, immunohistochemistry, and -omics-based approaches eg. Single-cell RNA seq analysis, Nanostring, 10xGenomics, etc
- In-depth knowledge of cancer biology including designing and executing experiments in preclinical models including patient-derived tumor xenografts, 3D organoids, and ex-vivo tumor tissue models.

Compensation: The expected salary range for this position is $184,000.00 - $242,000.00. Actual pay will be determined based on experience, qualifications, location, and other job-related factors permitted by law. A discretionary annual bonus may be available based on individual and Company performance.
